Beauty Must Haves

So this is just in time for the New Year. You know the old saying, if you were trapped on an island what would you bring? Well this is that, only the beauty product edition. These are my everyday essential, must have products.
Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream
This is a miracle worker! It moisturizes, evens out my skin tone, protects from UVA AND UVB rays (both harmful), and is so lightweight you can't even feel it!

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer
Let's face it, I have dark circles and need to hide them on a daily basis. This is the concealer I've been using for a while. I like it, it does the job, and it's not crazy expensive.

Rimmel London Mascara
I LOVE Rimmel mascaras. I have used a few and this is the one I'm currently using. It is fabulous.

Nars Blush
Blush is definitely an essential! If I don't have blush on I look sickly. It definitely helps me look alive.

I also wear eyeshadow, typically neutral shades, eyeliner on occasion, but I wouldn't really consider them my everyday essentials. Those are some of the products I love, and now I pose the same question to you. What are your "Go to" everyday items? I'm always looking for new products to try so I would love to hear what you love!

Secret to Happiness

This post is to help bring a little cheer this holiday season, just in time for the big day! Now, I'm not a philosopher, nor do I have any secret elixers, but I do tend to be a pretty pleasant person 99% of the time. The other 1%, I'm usually lacking in one of the following itmes I'm about to present to you. It's all about finding a balance in your life that makes you just sit back, smile, and enjoy what life has presented.
So here are my "Secrets" to keeping myself in check.

1. Check your Surroundings

As Oprah has said, "Surround yourself with people who lift you up higher". I cannot stress how important this is! If you are finding that everyone around you is constantly complaining or just always negative, this will most certainly have a negative impact on your own mood.

There will be some instances where it will be unavoidable, i.e. family, coworkers, people you just have to see constantly. In those instances you may have to over balance another area to make up for the negativity you'll be around for the time being.

2. Exercise

Recently I completed the Insanity program (no I am not a complete health nut and I'm not going to tell you that doing this workout is for everyone). Now I had heard that exercise can positively influence your mood, but I really didn't believe it... until now.

After completing the program I took a break. The workouts were intense and I felt like I deserved a little vacation. Fast forward 3 weeks later and I was still sitting on my butt most nights with an occasional 10-20 low impact workout.

Needless to say, I found myself in a rut. I felt down about myself, just not my typical happy self. There were a couple of small factors that played into this, but I realized that it all started after I stopped working out. I have since started exercising regularly, and with a higher impact that actually produces sweat. I have seen major improvements in my attitude since. So, call me a believer now.

3. Smile

I know it seems so simple, but it's true. Sometimes just giving someone a smile and seeing them return the gesture is all it takes to lighten a mood.

4. Give

Whether it's a gift or a hug, giving something to another person can really boost your soul. It doesn't have to be anything big or even cost any money, as long as it makes someone else happy, well it's bound to make you feel good too.

5. Sleep Tight

A good night's sleep does wonders for a mood. I find a lot when my children don't sleep well, i.e. I do not sleep well, I am more irratable and well cranky. Life isn't always going to present you with ideal sleep circumstances, but sleep is so important in keeping you sane.

Just making sure you have all of these balanced in your life, while may not create miracles, can't hurt. They work for me, but like I said, I'm no expert. But as one of my favorite quotes states:

Happy girls are the prettiest

Pinterest Finds

So if you're like me, a Pinterest junkie, then you've come across this problem many a times. You see something on Pinterest (i.e. a cute sweater, dress, etc), click the link, and Boom, sold out! Then you see the "Suggested/Related items" and they a re NOTHING like the one you want.

So you're stuck with a sense of longing for the item that will never be added to your collection. Constantly being reminded as it continuously pops up in your Pinterest browsing. Well this is where I would like to help all of you pinners. I have been on the hunt for some popular items (well items I love) and have found some REAL comparable items. So here are a few, just for you:

This is absolutely gorgeous and can actually be found here. It's not sold out but typically retails for $97.
While that price isn't so bad, I do have an alternative for those thrifty shoppers (like me!).
This one if from Forever21 and retials for just $32.80. It is Rose gold, but rose gold is so in right now so I thought it would be a great alternative.
Here is another popular one that keeps popping up:

Of course this link only brings you to a fashion blog without much to go on.
So here is my attempt at the whole outfit (minus the black leggings, you can find those anywhere), budget friendly of course:

Tank top, Target $8.00
Boots, Payless Reg $49.99, on sale $24.99

Sweater, Target $29.99
So these are just a few finds I've loved. Let me know what you think. Also if you have a Pinterest item you can't find, let me know in the comments below and maybe I will make this a reoccurring theme.
Also if you're curious to see what I've been Pinning lately, follow me on Pinterest!

Enjoy,

Welcome

Welcome to my new blog. As a prior Mom Blogger, I do have a little sense of the blogging world, but felt a little restricted just writing "Mom" things. So I stepped away for a while and have now regrouped and formed this new baby.

I plan to write about whatever I feel is interesting at the time. You can expect anything from beauty and fashion trends I'm loving to random thoughts that just pop in my head. I may occasionally include some "Mom type" posts as well, because let's face it, I'm stilla mom so it's just inevitable.

Anyways, I hope for this blog to be a place where I can just write with no boundaries or limits. So pull up a glass of wine, water, cup of tea or coffee. Cozy on up, and enjoy!
